Hello beautiful people. I completed my monthly reflection in my Passion Planner so now it’s time to, well reflect. As I think about August, I think about the words informative and fun. A lot of that went down.
Informative because I learned a lot about myself health, mental and career wise. I’m eager to put my new knowledge into action. Fun because I visited Malibu for the first time, went to Las Vegas for the fifth time, had some friends come visit my boyfriend and I from up north, had a wonderful beach day (the ocean and I were finally one again) and I dyed my hair orange. But, most importantly, through all of this—I was able to squeeze in at least 15 minutes of yoga a day.
It’s safe to say August was pretty successful for the most part. I do wish I had gone on more runs, pushed myself to eat smaller portions and write more but I am happy where I’m at because it’s where I’m supposed to be. After realizing what I didn’t want to believe, what’s been imprinted in my mind is self-awareness and truly beginning to know what makes me happy, tick, sad, mad, etc.
We go through life getting to know ourselves every day, but we are always expected to have it together and know who we are and what we want. Frankly, at times I do think I should know the obvious—me. But the truth of the matter is that I still don’t and I’m learning to be okay with that. Like Shrek says (about ogres of course), we are like onions and we have many layers. Our layers will continue to develop and come to light. One thing that we like one day, we may not like the next.
As human beings our constant change, development, growth, advancement, etc. can feel exasperating at times, but I’m here to remind you that it’s okay to move on, change your mind, to step out of your comfort zone and most of all, to be human. We’ve all heard that “life is too short” and although time does fly, what is longer than life? To us, there is nothing longer than our life (to be specific) that we live to see. Take a moment to let that soak in and try as many things as you can.
I am still accepting my whirlwind of a brain, but I’m getting to the finish line. If I can, you can too. This week I challenge you to write down 3 things you’ve always been interested in trying, but haven’t built up the courage to at least try.
Thanks for reading, xo.
