acts of kindness

Hi everyone, welcome back to Ashley Spills. Ashley, here. You can check out my other posts here

In a world full of love and tears, it’s important to recognize that some people experience more tears than love. With our busy schedule and constant demands to do more and work harder, it’s difficult to make the time to feel loved, let alone show love. Can you remember a time when you were having a bad day but someone, say a stranger, made it a little better? Today I am going to share 10 easy acts of kindness ideas you can perform to brighten someone’s day.

Pay for the next order in line

While waiting in line at a drive-thru, it’s easy to pay for the next order because once you get to the window to pay the cashier will have the total for the car behind you. This has happened to me twice at a Starbucks and it was so sweet. It’s easy to continue this chain of kindness because once an order is paid for, the act usually continues.

Help someone carry their groceries

We’ve all seen it: Someone with an insane amount of groceries pushing their haul to the car. Take some time to help push their cart, empty their cart, or carry their bags.

Write encouraging quotes on sticky notes and place them in bathroom stalls

Ah, yes… the bathroom is a place to recollect our thoughts when we’re out and about. Instead of tagging the bathroom, write something nice on a sticky note to brighten someone’s day. I know some of the things I read in the bathroom uplift me. Some examples are: “Have a good day, beautiful!”, “You go, girl.”, “You are worth whatever you’re contemplating.”, or “If you have a good feeling about it, DO IT… everything good is scary at first.”

Inspirational quotes

Create a playlist of inspiring songs and share it with your friends and family

We’ve all experienced it, a day when only a song can help us mend. Sharing music that helps heal is a great way to spread acts of kindness.

Offer to babysit

If you know a mom who needs a break, offer to take care of their child(ren) to grant them some well-deserved relaxation time.

Give someone a nice compliment

C’mon we all love a compliment. Find something you like about someone’s personality, outfit, or appearance and let them know!

Pick up trash you see on the ground and throw it away

Acts of kindness count towards mother earth too.

Do volunteer work

This can include picking up trash, spending time at a nursing home, and serving food at a homeless shelter.

Donate the things you don’t use

Donating your clothes or household items is a great way to give back to your community.

Pick a flower and give it to a stranger

Who doesn’t love flowers?

Conclusion

Having a bad day sucks and sometimes we all need something kind to happen to us. We may be divided, but we should aim to be united because the human race should be allowed to lean on each other. Let’s spread love, not hate!
