Let me break me down for you
My name is Ashley Monique
I try not to forget it
I am an interesting girl you know,
With potential that I can’t seem to grip
Everyone around me feels like a blur, why?
I’m starting to think I shouldn’t surround myself,
With you, him, or her
I don’t even know if you’re all real
Is my life a stimulation?
I want to live a fulfilled life
A real life
Sometimes others stop that from happening
They were placed here to get in my way,
To test me
Time is running out, I’m almost twenty-seven
Where did the time go?
I’m really freaking out right about now
I shouldn’t waste my time pleasing
I try to satisfy everyone, can’t you see?
Feeling as if I’m here to delight you
But that should not be the case, let me be
I need to find my nirvana, oh god
Ashley, why can’t you feel at ease with the world?
Constantly, I feel banned with the pressure
To get unbanned
Everyone has two faces, can’t you tell?
The phony one is always prettier
Cliques are mean and I do not add to them
At least I try not too, but
I do befriend everyone, why be so dismissive
Of others?
Being nice should be everyone’s goal
Can we really trust anyone?
Does it even matter if we can’t?
After all…

I am contained to myself now,
