dearest me

Are you ever afraid that in the future you won’t remember yourself now or the things you want for your future? Sometimes I wonder about the things that will change and if I’m okay with them changing.

Hi everyone, welcome back to Ashley Spills. Ashley, here. You can check out my other posts here.

As we get older, our interests change and there’s no way to control that. Changing and shedding parts of us is a part of life, and may I add that it’s one of the most beautiful parts. Change is required for self-growth, but it makes self-awareness even more challenging—Do you love the chase?

I’ve decided to write a letter to current me and future me to remind myself and tell myself about my current progress. Also, I want to let future me know that everything will be alright. A reminder that you’ll be okay is always good to know.

Dearest me,

I’ve decided to nurture current you, and future you, for maximum self-love and a little reminder that you’re doing amazing. Even though I don’t know future you yet, I already know you’re going to accomplish wonderful things because you’re putting in the work now. This moment is beautiful. Writing this for you is more than enough.

Take a moment to appreciate all that you have accomplished and know that everything you are doing and working toward is going to happen for you. If you can’t do it all today, tomorrow, or next month, well, that’s okay too because you’re slowly getting there.

Remember where you were

Remember where you were a year ago. You’ve done the work. You’ve seen the progress. Dearest me, everything in life takes time and time requires patience. Take the time to take time to thank yourself and love yourself for getting you where you are now.

Future you, I know you’ll be alright as long as you’re still writing and taking pictures of whatever captures your attention. I know you’ll be in love with the same man and that you will both travel as much as you can.

Know that whatever curveballs life throws at you, you’ll push through it because right now you’re learning more about yourself than you ever have. I know by then you’ll know how to properly deal with your emotions in stressful situations. However, this doesn’t mean to stop learning about yourself, that journey never really ends.

I am so proud of you

Dearest me, I am so proud of you and the woman you are becoming and will become.

With so much love,
Dearest you

I’d love to hear your thoughts on writing a letter to yourself and if you think they’re a good idea. Let me know in the comment section if you enjoyed this post and prompt.

Are you going to write yourself a letter?

Here’s one

Dearest you,

Whoever you are, wherever you are—you are truly extraordinary. If today was difficult, tomorrow will be better because better days are on their way, but some faith and positivity will be needed from you. Don’t be afraid to ask for more. Radiate as much good energy as you can—even if you have to dig deep for it. If today was good, tomorrow will be great.

Either way, you are slaying, you are beautiful, you are wonderful, and you are worth it.

With so much love,
Ashley

Last year I wrote a letter to my future self. I think I’m supposed to receive it on the day of my birthday. It’ll be interesting to read what I had to say almost two years ago.

Hi Rachel, is it going to get emailed to you? I’ve heard of programs that do that for you!
