My Ramble Poem, “Place Your Heart Close To Mine”

your heart

Place your heart close to mine
A little closer, you’re not
Adjusting the distance
It’s not close enough
I can’t read it, it’s not fair because
You can read mine, recognize mine
I still don’t know what yours says
I still can’t catch its rhythm,
And it’s all I’ve known for almost 6 years
Why can’t I read it? I know it’s there
I can hear it—pulsating
It’s my darling
Melody that I yearn
To hear against my cheek
The warm imprint on my face
Never fades after I lift my head
It’s all I perceive, but
I still don’t know what it desires
I still can’t grasp it
Like an open book,
Or a singer’s velvet voice
That’s me, for you
Why don’t you reciprocate?
Enigmatic
I need to unravel it, because you
Do it to mine
For the thousandth time, all the time
Why can’t yours be easy, like mine?
These words will, maybe
Let you expose
You
Because that divine heart is supposed to
Be mine, please be mine because
I still don’t know if it loves mine
I still can’t seem to be sure
That it is mine
Maybe I’m naïve to believe
I should know it all, have you all
Maybe it’s still too soon to know
Your vulnerabilities
Maybe they…our hearts
Need more time
Together, to gather each other
Absorb each other
You say it’s simple,
Your heart, but
That can’t be true because you still
Don’t place your heart close enough
To me

The end
