success in life

Hi everyone, welcome back to Ashley Spills. Ashley, here. You can check out my last post here. Success in life is something we all strive for and it means something different for everyone. Today I want to discuss why it’s vital for us to get out of our head to become successful. I believe the biggest factor stopping someone from realizing their goals is: lack of determination.

Why you can’t reach your goals

  • First, being physically incapable of accomplishing anything on the long To Do list that accompanies your goal because you must be somewhere else or do something else of higher importance (going to school, being a mother, volunteer work, etc.).
  • Second, prioritizing other things that seem more important. If you don’t make your goals a priority, then you’re pretty much telling your spirit and soul: “I don’t have time for you.”
  • Third, being lazy. I am a victim of this sluggish trait. I often am busy, but when I’m not, sometimes I’d rather just watch TV, eat, hang out with friends, sleep, or pretty much anything that doesn’t involve getting my creative brain juices flowing. Oh, how sad.
  • Fourth, making excuses for yourself. This is one I struggle with the most because I’m the master of coming up with excuses. Does that make me sneaky? Maybe. But it also just makes me unaccountable for my lack-of results.

Points two through four are easily things that we can fight off with persistence and awareness of self. Once we become aware of how we are stopping ourselves, then we can truly accomplish the art of pursuing goals. If the first point is your case, that’s okay. Remember that you should aim to give yourself 15 minutes of dedicated you time every day; 15 x 7 = 105. That’s 105 minutes a week that you can use to work on any new or sought out endeavors.

I don’t know how many entrepreneurs have said, “don’t give up,” “follow your heart,” or “believe in yourself” before, but when you look at all the success in life stories out there it’s evident that lack of determination was not their case. Another way to achieve optimal results of self and success is to surround yourself with likeminded people.

What does success mean to you?

Again, success in life can mean something different for you than it does for someone else. It might be helpful to find out what success means to you. Some may think of money and while others may think of happiness. See how Merriam-Webster defines success here: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/success. I like and believe in definition #2: “the correct or desired result of an attempt.”

Success in life for me: to be happy, to write, to create, to gain more readers, and to spread self-awareness and self-love. What do you desire?
